What do you like most about working in the library?
I like working with the students and teaching them how to do research using all of the library’s wonderful databases. The main reason I became a librarian was because I like to read and continue to learn. I figured that since there is so much information out there to learn, being a librarian would allow me to continue to learn while helping other people find what they need.

What do you wish students knew about the library?
About all of our databases and what great information they contain.

What are your hobbies?
Reading, working in the garden, hiking, camping, and cycling.

Children? Pets?
One son (Jason) who is a junior in high school and a dog (Sandi), a Jack Russell Terrier.

Favorite movie?
The Pagemaster.

Favorite Book?
The Golden Name Day by Jennie Lindquist. I also am enjoying a new book we just added to the library: You are here: exposing the vital link between what we do and what that does to our planet by Thomas M. Kostigen. It’s all about the need for us all to “care” for our natural resources. We are all connected to each other.

A saying/code/ideal you live by?
I try to treat everyone the way I would like to be treated.
My favorite quote: My two favourite things in life are libraries and bicycles. They both move people forward without wasting anything. The perfect day: riding a bike to the library.” –Peter Golkin

What is one thing people would never guess about you just by looking?
I would like to ride my bike the entire length of the Mississippi River, along the MRT (Mississippi River Trail).
I know this is a second thing, but I became interested in becoming a librarian because I was a volunteer library page in junior high and high school.
