A History of the World in 100 Objects
A tour of world history through the objects people have made, from the stone axe to the credit card. MacGregor ties each object to its significance in time and space. 100 short chapters make it the perfect, relaxing dip before bedtime; unfortunately for my sleep acquisition I couldn’t put it down. Overall, the book left me with a renewed sense of wonder and optimism about the human race, and reinforced my belief that we are all connected–throughout time as well.
Originally a BBC Radio 4 program. Elegant UK edition of nearly 700 pages with striking color photographs
